  First Of The Fallen Come Home.

  yesterday saw the first of the fallen brits being returned home to raf brize norton.. .

  the first 10 british soldiers who died in iraq, were, unusually, returned to the uk.

  normally, fallen brit soldiers are buried at the place in which they fell, however it has been decided that where possible, all bodies will be returned the homeland in the hope that the bereaved relatives will be able to gain some comfort from this.. englishman.

  I was at the Rally for America in Houston 9,000+ people attended. There was plenty of support for the troops there. Even Shela (Crazy Lefty) Jackson Lee was there. Her qoute "I support the troops".

  Please don't put your "spin" on reality. Oh and have you ever had this thought, maybe the reason you probably don't see equal rallies as the "peace" (err. disruptive, stopping traffic so working people can't get to work, cost the taxpayers money for extra police, mostly students that have no jobs, no experience in life, no experience in foreign affairs, still living of mommy and daddy who most likely are successful, productive members of society.) is that the majority of the troop supporters have to work productive jobs, spent time with there families. They probably don't have the time (since they do have a career) to counter every "peace" "die in" "teach in" rally.

  i cant say that im a fan of affirmative action but bushs comments and actions against the u of m kind of burns me.

  again, while i dont believe in affirmative action, i have to admit that it does help the "little guy.

  " where i work there is another engineer who got a free ride through college because he received a hispanic scholarship while i spent 10 years paying back my student loans.

  I used to try and come into threads like these and argue my position on why I believe that Bush is a good President in my opinion, and while I agree with most of political his views there are some I don't agree with. I agree with him on affirmative action. Race based preferential treatment is IMHO not good. I am a first generation Mexican-American. I grew up in a neighborhood that was 95% mexican and poor. My parents had instilled in me to always excel in whatever I was doing. During my elementary school years my paintings won 1st place several times in city competition. I had also demostrated strong mathematical, english and science skills. I had also excelled in sports. I was even asked to compete in a school district marathon. The school was to sent only two representatives from each school year. I got to be one. By the time I reached Junior High I was in advanced honors classes. There was only 1 other hispanic in these classes. I was also continually asked by my P.E. coach to join the football team and track team. This time my parents did not want me to join (They were beginning to became hardcore witnesses by this time). Fast forward to my last two years at high school. I was no longer in advanced classes (I didn't see a reason to, JW's restricted college). Although I was in regular classes, my teachers noticed that the school work seemed easy to me. I still managed to graduate with a pretty good GPA. If I could I would have been accepted at pretty much any state college just because my grades where pretty good for a "Hispanic". I didn't thought. Fast forward 3 years. I had a sucky job, and was living at home with Mom and Dad. I got tired of my measly check. I got tired of my lifestyle. I sucked it up, and enrolled in tech school. I took out loans with the help of my parents. I decided that I was going to give it my best. I graduated top of the class. Fast forward to 2003. I have great job, and make good money. My wife also has a good job, and makes good money. She is also Hispanic. We just recently purchased a new home in a great side of town, with enough room for our daughter to run around. Both of us have gotten to where we are at without preferential treatment or a government hand out. She is also someone who excelled in school. She even graduated top 5 percent of her high school. We both do not believe in race based preferential treatment. I do agree on talent preferential treatment. If you are good at something, and the school is looking for those talents so be it. I do not believe that just because you are hispanic, black or green you should be able to have a leg up over an anglo. As far as Tax break for the "rich". From what I understand, the government considers those who make more than $120,000/yr "rich". My wife and I are pretty close to that mark for this year, and I by no means consider myself "rich". Also from what I understand, the top 20% percent wage earners (120,000/yr?) pay for over 50% of the taxes in America. Believe me, I have compared my taxes for the last 5 years, and the more you make, the more taxes you pay.

  these are the number of publishers in the u.s. 9excluding alaska and hawaii) for every month of the 2000, 2001, and 2002 service year.

  just take a look at the number of publishers in may of 2001 compare to that same month of 2002. a whopper!

  an increade of 4%!.

  Oh and since you say you are a believer, what the hell do you mean by that. What do you believe? That they have ghod's approval? That they speak for ghod"? That they are ghod's organization on earth?

  You are not a follower of the religion, but you put up some stats that what, prove that their numbers are growing? And let me guess, this proves that they have jehovar blessing.

  You have investigated those accusations, and you are still a believer, and defender of the Watchtower CULT. You are either sincerely trying to find your way out of this CULT, or you are to dumb to figure out that the Jehovah's Witless is a destructive CULT.

  i would like to hear some of the strangest or most ridiculous thing you got in trouble with the elders for.

  here is mine.. back in the early 70's i was married at the age of 18, typical witness thing to do.

  my husband who was 6 years older than i ruled me like a overly strict father.

  Well grew up going to a spanish congo in H-town Texas during the 80's & 90's. Now let me what where the stragest things is got called to the back room for, humm...

  1. For wearing Stacey Adams shoes. (patend leather, used commonly by "Lowriders")

  2. For wearing pleated pants.

  3. For wearing pants that tappered down. (I never liked straight pants, which were the prefered pant style to wear)

  4. For wearing dress pants with cuffs on the bottom. (Unacceptable during this time. Last time I went to the meetings I saw some MS's wearing some. I guess they are acceptable now)

  5. For wearing the (don't laugh) skinny ties.

  6. For having long hair. (My hair was just touching the top of my collar)

  7. For having short hair. (That was in at the time)

  8. For letting my mustache, and that part of the beard that grows under your bottom lip, grow out at the same time.

  9. For getting a part time job. (Even though my dad suggested it)

  10. For not getting a 4 door car as my first car.

  11. For getting a loud stereo system in my car.

  12. Oh and last but not least, for having a bumper sticker on my car that said "Just Do It".

  You know that was the slogan used my Nike at the time. The last one won a "Special Needs" talk from the PO, in regards to "the brothers need to watch what bumper stickers to put on their cars." I still remember the example he used it went something like "Some people go as far put bumper stickers that may invite violence such as JUST DO IT, as it come on I dare you to do something to me".

  Fashion at the Kingdom Hall

  what are some of the fashion trends you've seen or worn at the hall?

  any interesting stories to share?.

  some i remember off the top of my head are tie bars, tie clips, polyester suits, wide ties... we used to have brothers who would "compete" with designer cologne like polo, etc.. the memorial was always a fashion show.. yellowlab
